Illinois Drivers Just Won. Now It’s Time to Collect.
The Illinois Transportation Network Driver Labor Relations Act is law. After nearly ten years of promises from other organizations and nothing to show for it, TNWA 150 helped change that, in under a year. Here’s what we won for you, and what comes next.
What TNWA 150 Won For Illinois Drivers
- First-ever right to collective bargaining
- Guaranteed deactivation appeal rights Paid leave
- Occupational accident insurance
- Earnings transparency — every trip, every week
- Job loss compensation
- Grievance and arbitration process
- Safety mandates
- Written notice before any deactivation
- Your independence protected

Nine Years. Zero Results. Then We Showed Up.
Illinois rideshare drivers have been organizing since 2017. Year after year, other organizations made promises. They held rallies. They testified at City Hall. And after all of it drivers still had no right to bargain, no deactivation protections, and no seat at the table.
TNWA 150 came to Illinois a little more than a year ago.
We didn’t just organize drivers, we engaged directly with legislators, worked the bill language line by line, and leveraged the power of our 127-year history representing workers to get this law across the finish line. The Illinois Transportation Network Driver Labor Relations Act exists because we were at the table when it mattered.
Now we need you to authorize us to represent you so we can get to the bargaining table and turn this law into real money and real protections in your pocket.
Built on 127 Years of Worker Power
TNWA 150 is proudly affiliated with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 150 one of the most powerful and effective labor organizations in the country, with over 127 years of winning for workers.
IUOE Local 150 represents engineers, construction workers, and skilled tradespeople across Illinois, Indiana, and beyond. We have negotiated hundreds of contracts, protected thousands of workers from unfair treatment, and built a track record that speaks for itself.
We didn’t come to rideshare organizing as an experiment. We came because we know how to win and drivers deserve an organization that does too.

Step 3 — We Bargain
We go to the table with Uber, Lyft, and every other covered TNC and negotiate the first-ever statewide driver contract covering pay, benefits, deactivation, safety, and more.
Step 4 — You Vote
You vote to ratify the contract. It passes when a majority approves it.
Step 5 — It’s Law
The contract is submitted to the Illinois Department of Labor and becomes binding on every covered TNC in the state.
